🌿 About the Program
This fall, join us for Spooky Fall Nature School — a hands-on, curiosity-filled series that brings science to life with a seasonal twist! Each week, children will explore a different “spooky” theme in nature through discovery, adventure, and creativity. We’ll mix science with art, engineering and exploration so your child can see just how magical and mysterious the natural world really is. This is an immersive program your kiddos will be outside. They will get dirty and occasionally wet.
Over 5 weeks, we’ll learn about:
🕸️ Spiders & Webs – incredible engineers of the forest
🍄 Mushrooms & Fungi – nature’s recyclers and decomposers
🌳 The Haunted Forest – spooky trees, hollows, and the creatures that call them home
🍁 Magical Plant Pigments – the science behind fall leaves and natural “potions”
🪱 Decomposers – worms, beetles, and the creepy-crawlies that keep our forest alive
Each session includes :
in-depth science lesson. As a chemist I don’t skimp on the fun science hidden in nature.
A nature exploration in the form of a themed walk.
and a stem or art activity that reinforces the concepts we talked about
after our lesson the kids are welcome to play and create as they please.
When: Choose between Mondays at 1:00 PM or Tuesdays at 10:30 AM
Monday Dates: 9/22 9/29 10/13, 10/27, 11/3
Tuesday Dates : 9/23, 9/30, 10/14, 10/28, 11/4
Where: Outdoors in our local wild spaces due to availability we will have a couple different areas we are in including Gorman Nature Center, Fleming Falls Preserve, and our Farm in Mansfield. You will notified ahead of time where we will be.
Who: Children ages 6–10 (parents are expected to stay and participate alongside their child) Siblings of all ages are welcome to join. I do have a class specifically for 5 and under as well as an advanced class for 8+ if your child would prefer one of those.
Classes are held in all weather UNLESS it is storming, extremely windy or otherwise unsafe to be out.
